Description

The Ocala National Forest is located in central Florida between the Ocklawaha and St. Johns Rivers. The Forest is approximately 383,000 acres and is the southernmost forest in the continental United States. The Ocala National Forest is rich in water resources with more than 600 lakes, rivers, and springs.<br />

Four major natural springs of crystal clear water are located in the popular of Juniper Springs, Salt Springs, Alexander Springs and Silver Glen Springs Recreation Areas. The Forest hosts a variety of major recreation, scenic and historic areas. The recreation activities are as diverse as the environment, from canoeing in wilderness waterways, swimming in crystal clear constant 72° springs, year-round camping, picnicking, fishing, birding, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding and four-wheeling. <br />

Directions

The Forest is located between the Ocklawaha and St. Johns Rivers in central Florida within Putnam, Lake and Marion Counties. Interstate 75 parallels the forest on the west and Interstates 95 and 4 are on the east side. Please see Maps and Brochures for an area map of the Ocala National Forest.
